ABOUT THE PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR in Fremantle Western Australia:

THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE: Making Sense of the seemingly Senseless

For all the leaders in the world that we ultimately seek to be and are, be it on a personal or professional level.

THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE seminar course will provide you with knowledge and insights into the way we organise our thoughts and feelings. The focus is on understanding how our internal world got created in the first place and provides the basic framework for an inquiry into questions like:

  • Why am I doing the things that I am doing?
  • Why am I the way I am?
  • Why do I feel the way I feel?
  • Why do I say the things I say?
  • Why do I only hear the things I want to hear?
  • Why am I living the life I live?
  • Why is it difficult to see the whole picture?
  • Why does personal change seem to be so difficult to achieve?
  • And ultimately, how can knowledge and insights empower us on our journey?

‘Why questions’ are a very powerful tool for gaining insights, knowledge and understanding into oneself, others and life in general. The problem that arises out of a ‘why question’ is that the very moment we ask ourselves ‘why?’, we activate our thinking faculties. Interestingly, no other living species than a human being is capable or in need of asking such a question.

On our search for an answer to our ‘why question’ we automatically engage in a thinking process. And even though our thoughts arise out of a sea of wisdom deep within, by the time it reaches our conscious mind it has passed through a web of belief and value systems that lies way beyond our awareness.

The conclusion that we ultimately draw from such an inquiry will be accurate only in relation to our perceived world. This world has been created out of everything we have ever thought, felt, seen, heard, touched and smelled: a world which is intricate and complex, but, most importantly, a world which is to a large extent hidden from our conscious awareness.

Our world, thus, is limited to the knowledge that we have about ourselves. And anything we know about ourselves is reflected in our thoughts.

Understanding the process by which we create this self we perceive in our thoughts is invaluable in our process of self discovery and personal growth. Otherwise; our journey is merely a blind search for a needle in the haystack.

THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE is offering you knowledge that will give you understanding and insights into your personal choices and limitations. It is designed to offer you help and direction into the inquiry of your feelings and motivations – into a world that ultimately is mirrored in your experience.

THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE is furthermore designed to give you insights into the interconnectedness of our human ‘beingness’. This knowledge has the potential to change your attitude towards yourself and others forever; and thus, change your world. As Oliver Wendell Holmes (1809-1894) put it:

“Man’s mind, once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimensions.”

Man’s mind and thought are inseparable. You can either change your experience to change your thoughts or you can change your thoughts to change your experience. Many psychotherapies follow the first principle; having said that, in order to engage in psychotherapy, we must have made a conscious decision to do so, thus, it is an illusion to believe that human experience and thought exist apart from each other.

There is one last thing to be mentioned. You can stretch you mind with a vast amount of knowledge, but as Carl Rogers once said: “Unless your experience changes, you have learned nothing. Your own experience is the touchstone of validity and, therefore, your highest authority.”

THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE offers you information to stretch your mind so you can become aware and explore your experiences from a position of deeper knowledge and understanding.

The program is of value to anyone who is seeking more understanding about themselves, others and their relationship dynamics. For anyone working with people or is in a leadership position this knowledge will be invaluable. You will be able to understand the dynamics between people and find ways that will lead you through a conflict situation towards a healthy win-win scenario, gently, efficiently and effectively.

THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE is a program that takes you through the basic understanding of what a human experience constitutes. Because at the heart of any struggle, conflict or “stuckness” lies a sense of ‘something is not quite right’. Recognising the processes that lead up to such a conclusion is a beginning in honouring the human beingness in ourselves and others.

Without thought, life might be indeed simpler but without thought, we could never rise to those extraordinary moments. Those passionate encounters that have the capacity to give us wings. Emotions mirror our thoughts and are a mere reflection of our attitude towards life. Victor Frankl wrote:

“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms — to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”

Attitude, however, is nothing more than a mental state arising from our beliefs, feelings, values and our dispositions to be or to act and is governed by our faculties of thought, conscious and unconscious. Our thoughts, thus, hold one key into an extraordinary journey of self inquiry and personal growth.

Awareness liberates! Enjoy your journey and remember: Any teachings are worthless, unless you can incorporate them into a new experience.
THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE  gives you the opportunity to accelerate this process by offering support, inspiration and guidance into the inquiry of your own world. In other words, to take the teachings and adapt them to your own world.
